The process of replacement of primary batteries is that dry batteries are replaced by alkaline batteries, and alkaline batteries are replaced by lithium primary batteries. The replacement process of secondary batteries shows that lead-acid batteries are replaced by nickel-cadmium batteries, nickel-cadmium batteries are replaced by nickel-hydrogen batteries, and nickel-hydrogen batteries are replaced by lithium-ion batteries.
An expert in the new energy automobile industry who did not want to be named told reporters that at present, there are two development directions for new energy automobile electronic batteries, one is fuel power batteries and the other is lithium-ion batteries. The so-called fuel power cell refers to a power generation device that directly converts the chemistry stored in fuel and oxidant into electrical energy. Fuel and air are separately fed into the fuel power cell to generate electrical energy.
According to the reporter’s understanding, although fuel power batteries used to be louder, the 12th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Electric Vehicle Technology (hereinafter referred to as the "Plan") issued by the Ministry of Science and Technology in March 2012 clearly stated that the focus will be on new lithium Ion power lithium battery. The "Plan" also proposes to use power lithium battery modules as the core to achieve a breakthrough in the large-scale industrialization of vehicle power lithium batteries focusing on energy-based lithium ion power lithium batteries. From this point of view, lithium-ion batteries have long been clearly defined as the development direction of new energy vehicle batteries.
At present, my country's listed companies involved in lithium-ion batteries, BYD, Suguang, Chengfei Integration, Desai Battery, Xinzhoubang, and Tianqi Lithium, are generally favored. Some analysts believe that the new energy vehicle plan will definitely benefit related industries.
Although new energy vehicles will continue to be supported and promoted in terms of policies, their own technical bottlenecks are still the biggest constraint. Huatai Securities stated that the introduction of policies can only cause short-term performance of relevant stocks in the sector, and it is difficult to maintain. The company's own technological innovation and resource changes will have a positive impact on the stock price.
Three factors determine who can win
From the current domestic new energy vehicle technology, there is still a gap between battery material technology and the international one. Power vehicle battery separators are only laboratory products. Domestic battery separator demand accounts for 33% of the world's total, while domestic companies have fewer than 10, accounting for only 11% of the global market. Some industry analysts pointed out.
First is technology. Battery technology mainly includes formula, battery design, and group technology. At present, the gap between large manufacturers in formula is not obvious, and the important difference is reflected in battery design and grouping. Among them, the grouping technology has the biggest difference. The battery grouping involves many fields such as machinery and electronics. At present, the domestic grouping technology still needs to be improved. The battery pack life is usually only a quarter of that of a single battery.
The second is the production process. The lithium-ion battery process includes ingredients, coating, baking, rolling, slicing, etc. Large factories have unique processes in each link, and the processes of different factories are quite different.
The third is capital. Power lithium batteries must continue to invest in technology and equipment. The first phase investment is usually 500 to 1 billion yuan. It is difficult for small factories to have the financial strength to support power lithium battery investment. At present, domestic production equipment for lithium-ion batteries is basically domestically produced. Some companies buy imported equipment. Large factories invest 10-20 million yuan in testing equipment every year.
